At Cape Associates, our most precious assets are our customers, our customer relationships and our employees. The community around us is what provides the opportunities to develop these relationships. We have a deep conviction to give back to the community around us.
At the core of our philanthropic efforts is our annual playhouse program. Please take a moment to look at our playhouse page to learn more about that program.
A cause very near and dear to Cape Associates is the Michael H. Cole Charitable Giving Foundation. Click below to see a video of the 3rd Annual Michael H. Cole Charitable Giving Foundation Golf Tournament, which took place on May 16th at the Ocean Edge in Brewster, MA.
Other groups or events that we currently support on an annual or ongoing basis include:
Our industry had myriad of regulations thrust at it, at the town, county, state and federal levels in just the last handful of years. Never has it been more important to band together to be a voice for our trade. Our past president, Michael Cole and current Vice President Rich Bryant have both served terms as President and Board Member of HBRACC.
The Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Cape Cod is an autonomous organization duly incorporated by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a nonprofit organization. The Association was formed by a small band of builders in 1950 known as the Cape Cod Builders Association. HB&RACC is a volunteer-driven trade association, presently consisting of over 200 company members. We represent the home building industry: builders and remodelers; suppliers, sub-contractors and other associates.
The past few years we have participated with the Y through volunteerism and financial support. Each year we have provided in-kind services during Build Week. Build Week is an annual program that executes large-scale capital repair and new construction projects. Additionally, in 2012, YMCA of Cape Cod was the beneficiary of one of the two playhouses we constructed, a mini replica of the boathouse at Camp Lyndon.
The YMCA Cape Cod exists to strengthen our community. Together, with people like you, we nurture the potential of kids, improve the nation’s health and well-being and give back and support our neighbors.
The connection between our mission and the mission of HAC is obvious. There is nothing more important than a shelter, a home. Each year we participate in the Big Fix, putting our skills to work to help local citizens in need of important repairs. We have also participated in the NOAH telethon and provided financial support for various initiatives. In 2011, HAC was the beneficiary of the Green EsCape playhouse we built.
HAC offers a continuum of housing programs that evolve with the changing needs of the community. HAC educates, trains and counsels with HAC’s consumer education department; weatherizes and conducts energy rehabs for low-income and market-rate properties; develops affordable housing for seniors, families and individuals; and provides an opportunity to become a homeowner with a full-service nonprofit real estate office.
HAC also provides emergency shelter and homelessness prevention assistance for individuals and families; administration of the largest housing subsidy program in our region; and family self sufficiency and employment services.
The Big Fix is a community service event coordinated by Housing Assistance Corporation (HAC). The vision of this event is to make home and landscaping improvements that will enhance the comfort, safety and quality of life for seniors, the disabled and veterans on Cape Cod and the Islands.
Cape Associates is excited to be new supporters of Cape Cod Child Development. We encourage you to visit their website to learn more about them. They say: “Through our core offerings, we offer a broad range of comprehensive services that include preschool/head start; and school-age programs; early intervention and assessment services; parent education and playgroups for children; support for teen parents and a network of family child care homes. Cape Cod Child Development is the largest provider of quality childcare, early education, developmental intervention and family support services on Cape Cod, the Islands and Wareham.”
Cape Associates provides volunteer and financial support to this important organization. It is no secret that the Cape has experienced a decrease in the young demographic over the past 2 decades. We believe that a diverse workforce is critical to maintaining that which is special about this area we call home. We look towards this organization to help recruit and retain young professionals in the Cape’s workforce.
CCYP is the only organization of its kind serving the region. CCYP continues to grow through strategic partnerships and enhanced membership offerings and remain excited about what the future holds for the organization and for Cape Cod as a place to live, work, and raise a family.
We have teamed up with CCCP in recent years to help facilitate deferred maintenance items. In 2010 and 2011 we donated two man-days (one donated by the company; one donated by the employee) per month to address outstanding maintenance and repair items. Though no longer a regular monthly program, this support continues on an as-needed basis. The affordability of living on the Cape is a challenge that faces all residents, childcare expenses are particularly expensive. Great organizations like Children’s Place help to deliver these critical services.
Cape Cod Children’s Place is a non-profit resource, referral, and education center committed to providing high-quality care, support, and advocacy for families with young children in order to sustain a healthy community for Cape Cod’s future.
Over the past several years we have supported ABC through supply drives and cash donations. Our warehouse manager has organized and consolidated our scrap metal reclaimed from demolition projects such that these proceeds can be directed in a meaningful quantity to ABC.
A Baby Center provides at no charge, every 30 days, critical basic items like diapers and clothing for infants and toddlers up to the age of three who live on Cape Cod and the Islands; and whose families meet income guidelines as identified by the federal WIC (Women, Infants & Children) program.
