Cape Associates hosted a ribbon cutting event on Friday, April 18th to officially open their new office building at 325 Massasoit Road in Eastham. Demolition of a single family home took place on the property in July of 2013, and now stands a charming building to be LEED certified featuring an office and meeting space on the first floor and two 1-bedroom apartments on the second floor.
The building was constructed under the rigorous U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC)’s LEED rating system. Leadership in Energy and Evironmental Design (LEED) is a very comprehensive “green building” certification process which measures design and construction of energy-efficient, water-conserving buildings that use sustainable or green resources and materials. The building features solar panels on the roof, spray foam insulation and LED lighting to name just a few of the aspects that make this building a candidate for a LEED rating.
The building is named The Michael H. Cole Building in honor of Cape Associate’s former president, Michael Cole who led the company for three decades. The building was designed by Brown, Lindquist, Fenuccio & Raber Architects, Inc. of Yarmouthport. ZeroEnergy Design of Orleans and Boston did the HVAC design, energy modeling and consulted on LEED certification. The Cape Associates team built the structure and the interior design was managed by Susan Tuttle and her team at Surroundings.
A sizable crowd attended the event and after a short speech, Matthew H. Cole cut the ribbon with help from his niece, Olivia.
